Perfect Barossa Valley Shiraz colour with deep purple hues coupled with plum and dark cherry aromas. The palate shows pure fruit sweetness and density and fine long, ferric-like tannins. The oak regime is all French puncheons with 33% being new which adds length and compliments the wines natural freshness and fruit sweetness.

Wine Profile
Vinification
Hand harvested, destemmed and chilled to tanker in the Barossa.
Fermented in a single open fermenter in the Hunter.
Gentle cap management to ensure soft tannins, the wine is matured in 100% French oak puncheons for 16 months.
Winemaker Comments
The first Barossa Valley single vineyard Shiraz for Brokenwood in its 50 year history. As a result of the bushfires that impacted Eastern Australia, we are grateful to our industry friends at Yalumba for
supplying these grapes.
The vineyard is planted in 2001 on a clay loam over brown grey clay soil to the BVRC12 clone on its own roots.
Sturt Road runs north-east of Nuriootpa towards the Ebenezer
sub-region.
The Barossa experienced another cool and dry winter with lighter than average rainfall. Flowering was slightly delayed by the cooler November weather, then a quite warm windy period followed which reduced the crop set and resulted in a much lower than average crop. Warm December and January days kept berry size small. Thankfully a much needed 31mm of rain fell on the 31st January. This dry and mild to hot weather has produced grapes with great flavour and fruit intensity and lovely balance despite the low yields.

Drink
Drinking well now but will reward with medium to long term cellaring.
